Larch Disease

Woodland Clearances

Walkers are having to get used to a changing scene on the walk up to Ogden Clough. Much of the woodland is being felled as part of the protection against the disease killing Larch trees.

Upper Ogden

Runner at Upper Ogden Reservoir

Conversely, walkers (and runners) will soon become accustomed to new, mixed deciduous woodlands as they grow and mature on the slopes above the upper reservoir. Be patient.

Ogden Clough

At the junction where Boar Clough meets Ogden Clough, I chose to go the long way round and follow the long watercourse of the latter. I bumped into an "old" school friend - Mark, accompanied by Maxine. Given the large number of walkers on the fell today, it was always likely that I could see someone I knew!

These few hours of sunshine are the only ones in the forecast this weekend. Otherwise it's the usual brisk wind keeping the air moving.

Always worth the effort when the view is as good as this!
